“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

I always loved this quote by Howard Thurman who was an African-American author, philosopher, theologian, educator, and civil rights leader.

Taking walks along the property’s paths overlooking the water or wading in the gentle creek risking little as it touches only midway up your calf or finding deeper swimming pockets to plunge and swim infinitely against the current..this microscopic ecosystem represents Adirondacks as a whole! Plenty of birdwatching and bird listening..as loons bob across the meandering stream, kingfishers dive and skirt the water, grouse and wild turkey families prance about worry free, a random wood fox and jack rabbit occasionally peek out, a friendly frog hang outs for an entire outdoor lunch, busy hummingbirds scour the honeysuckle and hosta flowers along the cabin as a plethora of fluttering butterflies change out colors and markings depending on the migration season..this all happens if you give yourself a new york minute to wait, watch and listen. every time we head back to the cabin, we embrace something new that grabs us! we hope our visiting campers can harness their own personal experience.

our cabin renovation journey

sounds silly, but as every obstacle was confronted, it was as if the cabin somehow asked to bring back it’s own dignity by providing solutions or ‘happy accidents’ we eventually came to prefer & love!
